Installation Instructions

  1. Install the battery.
  2. Perform a Matrix II self test to ensure that the unit is functioning correctly.
  3. Apply electrodes only to unbroken skin. Clean the area of the skin where the electrodes are to be attached with soap and water, rinse and dry. Remove a pair (2) of electrodes from their protective pads by grasping the edge of the electrode and peeling it off the liner. DO NOT PULL ON THE ELECTRODE WIRE! Retain the protective pads for storage.
  4. Place the electrode on the exact skin location (should be determined by a medical professional) by applying the center of the electrode first and smoothing down to the electrode edges. Attach the electrodes bracketing the area of concern.
  5. Attach the white and red connectors at the ends of the cables/leads to the connectors at the ends of the electrodes and attach the black connector jack on the cable/leads into the JACK socket on the top of the Matrix II.
  6. Turn the Matrix II ON, the green OPERATIONAL light will flash on and off, indicating that the unit is functioning. If the red LOW BATTERY light comes on, turn OFF the Matrix II and replace the battery.
  7. Turn the Matrix II OFF when you have completed your treatment time and then remove the electrodes by heeling from the TOP of the electrodes DOWN. Do not pull on the electrode wire. This may damage or destroy the electrode. The proper method of removal is to grasp the edge of the electrode and lift from the skin or protective pad.
  8. Place the electrodes back on their protective pads, in the resealable plastic bag and store in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight. The life of the electrodes varies depending on skin condition, skin preparation, storage and climate.

Always turn the Matrix II OFF when the unit is not in use.

Battery Installation or Replacement Instructions

  1. Turn the unit OFF.
  2. To access the battery compartment turn the Matrix II to the back.
  3. At the base of the belt clip is a small triangle, press down on it and slide back the compartment door with your thumb. The door will come completely off.
  4. If there is already a battery in the Matrix II, take the battery out of the Matrix II and gently remove the Matrix II battery contact from the contacts on the battery.
  5. Remove the contact guard from the new battery contacts. Snap the Matrix II battery contact onto the new battery contacts.
  6. Place the battery into the Matrix II ensuring that the wires are not sticking out of the opening of the compartment door.
  7. Slide the battery compartment door back in place.

Self Test Instructions

Before using the Matrix II conduct the unit self test.

  1. Install the battery, see battery installation instructions above.
  2. Turn the unit ON and using a paper clip or one of the cable/leads that plug in the electrodes, gently push into the SELF TEST recessed hole. When the green OPERATIONAL light flashes on and off the unit is functioning correctly and is ready for use. The green OPERATIONAL light will only flash while the SELF TEST hole is being pushed. (Electrodes and cable/leads do not need to be installed for this test.)
  3. Turn the Matrix II OFF and apply the electrodes to the area of concern.
  4. If the unit is functioning correctly and the electrodes are properly attached to the skin but the green light does not come on, then the cable/leads need to be replaced as they may be damaged.

The SELF TEST can be repeated at any time to verify that the Matrix II is functioning correctly. This SELF TEST is designed to indicate whether the Matrix II is faulty or there is a problem with the cables/leads and electrodes.
