The MATRIX
II
Technical Description
The Matrix II
is a true capacitively coupled, current limited device for use in
stimulating biological tissues. It is designed to deliver micro-amperes
at a base frequency of 54 kHz, modulated at 16 Hz. This signal has
been found to be effective in inducing the formation of bone in
fractures that would not otherwise heal and is also effective in
chronic and acute inflammatory conditions.
The Matrix II
is housed in a lightweight plastic enclosure about the size of a
standard paging unit (L 9.5 cm x W 6.0 cm x H 2.5 cm) making it
completely portable. A standard 9-volt DC alkaline battery powers
the Matrix II.
Because the circuit design is highly energy efficient, the battery
yields about 150 hours of operation. Weight is 108 grams.
The unique electronic design allows the electrodes to be placed
directly on the skin or with a small air gap. Electrodes can be
used with or without conductive jells. Biotronics Research recommends
reusable and self-adhering electrodes for ease of application. The
flexible carbon-based electrodes are easily molded to fit various
parts of the body. The minimum size of the electrodes is 51.6 square
cm. The cable that joins the Matrix
II to the electrodes has a 3.5 mm mono plug on one
end and two 2 mm plugs to go into the electrodes. The cable is 126
cm long.
The Matrix II
is approved for sale in
Canada (License Number 60273).
